Manor Farm, Marcham, Saturday 22nd July 2023

This weeks blog was written by Eleanor D

Eleven Green Gymmers met up in the yard at Manor Farm, Marcham for our second Himalayan Balsam pulling session of the Summer. The weather, however, was not very summery, with grey skies and a slight drizzle.

We set off for the stream at the back of the farm, where most of the balsam was, established our encampment by the bench and found the crossing point of the stream. We worked hard on the Himalayan Balsam, working in various areas until tea break time.

By now, the rain was getting heavier, and the colourful waterproofs you can see on the bench were essential wear. By the end of the break, it was raining harder, and the forecast was not promising, so we decided, after a majority vote, to go home. It is very unusual for hardy Green Gymmers to give up halfway through and we hope for better weather next Saturday.
